    App Description

We are carrying out testing of technology providing free internet access on the train. We are calling this SBB FreeSurf. The test is being carried out on the InterCity tilting trains on the IC5 and IC51 lines from Zurich to Geneva, St. Gallen to Lausanne and Basel to Biel. The free internet access is based on good mobile phone reception along the route. This means you enjoy faster and smoother internet access with more bandwidth than conventional WLAN on the train.

The technology test will be concluded when the timetable changes on 13 December 2020. SBB FreeSurf will be rolled out as a customer service available on all SBB long-distance trains. Not only Salt and Sunrise customers but also those with a digitec or Quickline mobile phone contract will be able to surf the internet for free with the SBB FreeSurf app from then on.
