i knew about this and liked the concept but wasn’t using it.
recently google was annoying the living s out of me by foisting ai overview on me without an option to turn it off.
because of that i’ve stopped using google and now use ecosia for everything. i like the simple interface, the fact that use of ai isn’t mandatory, and the tree planting is gravy on top of that.
ai is mostly trash at this stage of development and shouldn’t be forced on people. in fact, it should be avoided.

I’ve used this app for YEARS and I mean YEARS. I love the concept and have actually felt pretty productive of planting trees throughout my random searches. But I’m done! Taking several minutes to load each page is beginning to become a real pain. I can’t even type 4+ letters without having to wait at least a minute for it to load. The dial up feel used to not be a problem, but it’s significantly worse than it used to be, despite me continually checking for updates. I’m finally switching search engines:( sad to see you guys go

Ecosia is a wonderful search engine and something easy you can do to help the planet.

As a browser and search engine this is one of the best I know of. You have all the same functionality you would with the major browsers being built off of Mozilla; none of the junk that's made those extremely unpleasant to use, and most of all your browsing creates a positive impact.
An AI chat option that isn't defaulted in your searches, tucked away in a tab if you never want to use it, built off of OpenAI if you want a summation of a certain topic. Privacy options are pretty good, maybe not as robust as other options in the app store but for sure better than others. You always have the option to accept, reject, or manage the cookies you want or need for a website you visit along with prevent pop-ups and trackers in the app's settings and settings for the app within phone settings respectively. While there are still an ad section at the top of search results they don't take up all you see without scrolling down; it's a single section that is labeled as such rather than some results even past labeling being ad/sponsored content; Ecosia is ad-supported not an advertising company providing scant actual results.
Which leads to the best part: you get quality and give the environment more trees with every 50 browses. Those extra trees like our carbon and are a factor in mitigating climate change, I take pride in being able to browse and search the way I want and contribute in a small way that collective makes a giant difference in the world for the better. Ecosia not only strives to achieve carbon-neutrality, they achieve it and continue to exceed where other's with similar missions and more resources simply don't.
This is by all of the metrics that matter Ecosia is the best option for mobile browsing and searching I know and it's the only option I use and recommend those looking to leave ads behind and create more leaves for us and future generations to marvel at, learn about maybe even using this browser, and enjoy the shade of with or without a phone in hand.

Using it does not distract me every time I use it like Google did. There’re no “taylor made” and interesting articles that pop up to distract me every time I want to look something up. Ecosia does not add stress or anxiety to my life. Using is keeps me calm, thank you! I get distracted and forget what I want to look up with Google. That’s frustrating for me, someone with ADD, whose thoughts easily fall out of my head anyway. ECOSIA KEEPS ME CLEAR HEADED, CALM, and satisfied with search results. I’ve been using it for a week and find it super dooper easy to navigate, share and pin. THANK YOU, brilliant, thoughtful and caring creators! I can’t believe it does not cost a penny, either.

What’s the deal with Ecosia wanting to do a search every time I type a letter, so the Search box gets way behind what I’m typing? Edge does not do this. I don’t think Ecosia was always like this, but it has been for awhile. I like the Ecosia widget, but I’ll be looking for an alternative to Ecosia today.
UPDATE: It seems it is only the widget that has this problem. I like the widget. Fix the widget please.

Just as good as google and just as free, this search engine is a B-corp non-profit that uses its profit to plant trees and is carbon negative. No reason not to switch! See carbonalmanac.org for more changes you can make right now.

The keyboard has been very slow recently & I hope it will be fixed soon. However, I have not had this issue before, and I love everything else about the app and company. I feel safe while using Ecosia, as well as good about it!

I’ve used Ecosia for YEARS, ever since I heard about it. I have never had any issues with it at all, but lately it seems to be lagging? It might just be me, but whenever I am typing it lags tremendously. I checked for any updates and no dice. It is only Ecosia that lags on my phone as well, I was just hoping someone might have any ideas on how to fix this on my part? Or if it’s just the app? Again, I have never had this issue until recently. Please help!
