The Sister city relationship between San Francisco and Osaka isn’t San Francisco’s only sister city relationship, but is the oldest, founded in 1957, 61 years ago. We will be celebrating Osaka Matsuri on Sept 29, 2018 in Japantown. We will have performances at the Peace Plaza. (The pagoda in the center of the plaza was a gift from Osaka.) We will have food booths serving okonomiyaki, takoyaki, originating from Osaka, and other Japanese dishes. You can find all the details of the festival with this app. It has the schedule of performances and activities, our partners, and some information about transportation, and the social media scavenger hunt with prizes. Since Osaka speaks their own dialect of Japanese, there’s also a handy phrasebook so you can impress your friends. If you speak Kansai-ben and can’t find a phrase, you can contribute updates to share with everyone else. Ookini!!
